ACOUSTIC GUITAR MEETING 16th edition<\/span>
\n 2013, May 22-23-24-25-26<\/span>
\n Firmafede Fortress, Teatro degli Impavidi, historical center of Sarzana<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>The AGM16 will take place inside the Firmafede Fortress, in the Theatre of Impavidi and in the streets and squares of the historical center of Sarzana (La Spezia).<\/strong>\u00a0In this way more areas of the city will be involved in the event, offering all visitors the opportunity to live the ospitality and beauty of Sarzana.
\nThe event is today considered one of the\u00a0great\u00a0international appointments of the acoustic guitar universe, not to be missed by luthiers, companies, artists and guitar lovers, able to bring the public closer to very high quality musical ideas.<\/p>\n

The first 3 days of the AGM, Wednesday 22, Thursday 23, Friday 24 will be dedicated to the\u00a0Lutherie and Guitar Didactic Courses<\/strong>. Morning and afternoon fulltime workshops for all those who wish to learn or improve guitar making techniques and playing techniques. The Courses will be held inside the beautiful ImpavidiTheatre, very close to the Firmafede Fortress.
\nThe teachers will be\u00a0Kevin Ryan<\/strong>, extraordinary luthier from California,\u00a0Richard Hoover<\/strong>, founder and director of the Santa Cruz Guitar Company, who will lead lutherie course, and\u00a0Tony McManus<\/strong>,\u00a0Clive Carroll,<\/strong>\u00a0coordinated by\u00a0Davide Mastrangelo<\/strong>, who will lead the guitar didactics course, which will mostly focus on tecniques and arrangiaments in the celtic music.
\nAll program and subscription details will be published on the\u00a0dedicated page of the website.<\/a><\/p>\n

Friday May 24, Saturday May 25, Sunday May 26, from 11am to 7pm, will be dedicated to the Lutherie, Import, Vintage Guitars and Accessories Exhibition,\u00a0<\/strong>which will fill all the rooms and spaces inside the Firmafede Fortress, with the best luthiers, guitar makers and companies coming from all over the world.\u00a0(122 stands in 2012)<\/strong>.
\nOn display will be all the creations of the lutherie, the best guitar brands and the latest market news, with demonstrations, presentations and conferences. All the most important guitar organizations in Italy will be present and will organize events. The visitors will also find stands dedicated to guitar publications, magazines, collectors, CDs, Vinyls, DVDs and an area for private exchange market.
\nFrom the success of the last years, \u00a0the special area\u00a0\u201dUkulele Village\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>will be confirmed again, \u00a0with Ukulele exhibitors, performances and events.<\/p>\n

Thursday May 23,<\/strong>\u00a0the first part of the evening concert on the main stage, at 7pm, will be dedicated to the\u00a0“NEW SOUNDS OF ACOUSTIC MUSIC” -Carisch 2013 Award\u00a0\u201cIn memory of Stefano Rosso\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, a young guitarists contest which every year discovers new talents in the guitar music. A jury of journalists, artists and experts in the field will choose the winners, both in the fingerstyle and songwriting field.
\n<\/em>The second part of the concert, at 9pm, will present some of the best international guitar players.

Friday 24 and Saturday 25,<\/strong>\u00a0starting at 9pm, the best international guitar players, both in solo and in ensemble, will perform on the main stage: usually unforgettable concerts!

\nSaturday 25,<\/strong>\u00a0the central part of the concert will be dedicated to the\u00a0City of Sarzana-Liguria Region Award\u00a0<\/strong>“STRINGS & VOICES for DIALOGUE & CIVIL RIGHTS”,\u00a0<\/strong>5th\u00a0edition.
\n\u00a0<\/strong>A celebration of the popular song as a prominent instrument of social commitment, for dialogue and civic progress, and its interpreters par excellence: the voice and the acoustic guitar.<\/em>\u00a0The Award will be presented to the winner artist by the Major of the City of Sarzana. (1st\u00a0edition attribuited to the memory of\u00a0Woody Guthrie<\/strong>, 2nd\u00a0edition to\u00a0Jackson Browne<\/strong>, 3rd edition to the memory of\u00a0Victor Jara and Violeta Parra<\/strong>, 4th edition to\u00a0Francesco Guccini<\/strong>).

Concerts and performances of the best guitarists\u00a0on the main stage\u00a0will go on \u00a0for\u00a0all day Sunday 26 \u00a0<\/strong>(free entrance).<\/p>\n

There will be\u00a0very interesting conferences<\/strong>\u00a0during the AGM, located inside the Firmafede Fortress and addressed to luthiers, guitar makers and interested public.
\nThe first one will be lead by\u00a0John Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>(musician, writer and journalist of The Fretbourd Journal) with the title\u00a0“Kalamazoo Gals: A Story of Extraordinary Women and Gibson’s “Banner” Guitars of WWII”.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0An interesting story of the women who saved the Gibson Guitar Company during the war.
\nOthers will be:
\n“Top voicing and wood selection considerations for the vintage Martin”,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>lead by the American luthier\u00a0John Slobod\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<\/strong>focused on\u00a0Martin Guitars, modern and \u201cPre war\u201d, about what role woods play in the voice, the top selection, bracing, scale length, neck shapes, glues and finishes, etc…
\n\u201cFolk Revival and Guitars: as the traditional British music evolves from the second half of the 1900″,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>lead by\u00a0Gianni Cunich and Fabio Lossani,\u00a0<\/strong>who will speak about the stylistic evolution of the English, Scottish, Irish and all Celtic music, by the work of the most representative guitarists.\u00a0There will be live music examples and video projections.
\n“A Discussion On Guitar Shapes and Tonewoods” <\/strong>lead by<\/em>\u00a0Andy Lund<\/strong>\u00a0which will focus on\u00a0Taylor Guitars<\/strong>\u00a0and, for the first time in Italy, Kim Breedlove<\/strong>\u00a0will present\u00a0\u201cHistory of Breedlove Guitars: Art, Music, Love” <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0a journey in the lutherie, in the personal history of Kim and his brother Larry and as they developed the Breedlove Guitar Company.

Seminars, workshops, events will fill all the rooms and corners of the Firmafede Fortress and also the historical center of the City of Sarzana will be a location \u00a0for concerts and jam sessions, involving all the City in the nice atmosphere of the AGM.<\/p>\n

Friday May 24th, at the opening of the Acoustic Guitar Meeting, from11am many bluegrass musicians will meet in the Firmafede Fortress. A dedicated stage, at the entrance of the Fortress, will be the place for performances, workshops, jam sessions that will involve musicians and bluegrass music lovers. It will go on all day, until closing time at 7pm.
\nThe event will be coordinated by Danilo Cartia and Massimo Gatti.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 9pm, the evening concert on central stage will be closed by a bluegrass band formed by some of the best italian musicians.
\n“ITALIAN BLUEGRASS ALL STARS” will present:
